The Bunk Room

We have three children and they are each married with children.  Matt and Anne Marie have one child, Leo.  Bradley and Jess have two, Lily and Elias.  Lori and Sean have two, Hazel and the youngest, Harper.  We love having them all over and plan get togethers and celebrations as often as we can.  They used to spend the night on Christmas Eve, but it got a little crowded so they don’t always anymore.  Anyway, now that they all have children it’s time for them to start building their own traditions.

Anyway, what I’m getting to is our reasoning for having what we call The Bunk Room.  As I said, we love having them all over so we want to make it more enticing and comfortable for them to spend the night or weekend.  I envision pajama parties and game nights with popcorn and other snacks.  Lots of laughter and fun.

Our plan is to have 3 queen size beds and three built in bunk beds.  A large closet and a full bath.

We also like to have cocktail parties and even plan to host after parties for some of the local music festivals.

So, take a look at the plan and tell us what you think.  Be sure to like our Facebook page and our website at

  1. What a fun project! My husband and I are empty nesters with young 20-somethings who are both engaged. I absolutely love the idea of creating a bunk room for the grandkids! Those kiddos are going to have some amazing sleepovers at Grandma’s house. 🙂

  2. I love this idea! We have a 3 bedroom home and only 1 has beds! When our grandkids come to spend the night, we have nowhere for them to sleep. A bunk room would solve this problem by using the concept in the spare room in the basement!

  3. It’s a great idea and I can’t wait to see how it turns out!
